Yes. Unless you are an Exempt employee or are otherwise covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement or Employment contract, overtime is based upon working a 40 hour work week. Your first 40 hours worked in any given week are straight time, unless there is a recognized Federal holiday. Any hours worked above 40 in a week are subject to overtime.

Depending on your age. If you worked too many hours and your under age then yes. However, flexible hours and scheduling is not illegal and if they kept you under 40 they are fine.

This depends on your location and industry. In general if you are hourly the only expectation is that you will be paid for the number of hours you work. Your boss sets the hours that you are to complete that work so technically yes he can do that.

If you worked extra hours on Thursday but the shorter work day on Friday means that you worked 40 or fewer hours that week, this is legal. What is illegal is if you worked more than 40 hours and you were not paid for that time as an hourly employee.

Yes it is perfectly legal. Unless you have some kind of contract that specifically prohibits them from doing so, there is no reason an employer can't switch your hours around.

It is absolutely illegal to have someone work overtime on thursday and then cut you hours on Friday to prevent paying overtime, because technically, you are not supposed to be working more than 8 hours a day. If you do though, you should be paid accordingly
