Is it difficult to learn to speak Polish?

I grew up in a Polish-American home. My parents, aunts, uncles all spoke Polish around the house. Even though I knew a lot of the words, I found it quite difficult later in life to pick up fluency. More difficult than learning French, which I studied and learned later.

It takes a lot of study and practice to master any language. The older we get, the more difficult it to learn a new language. It takes roughly 10,000 of study and practice to master anything.

I am guessing that it might be, because all Slavic languages come with lots of inflections. I have never tried to learn it, though. Knowing another Slavic language, for example Czech or Slovene, might help to learn Polish. But speakers of English find it hard to learn Polish, perhaps because few words look or sound the similar.

I think it would be difficult considering for my most of my life I only have spoken english. They say learning a new language when you're older is different. I have heard people speak it, I even have tried to learn myself but too many difference in nouns confused me and i just gave up.
