Bacitracin is an antibiotic cream for Gram-positive strains of bacteria. A veterinarian should look at the wound to determine the safest, most effective treatment.

Although you should always refer to a vet for these questions and for major wounds, I have found that bacitracin does work wonders for my dogs' small scrapes and cuts. The trick is to clean the area very well and just apply a small amount of the ointment to the wound. Don't let them lick the medicine off!!

Yes, any OTC antibiotic is fine, but if it's where he can lick it, you will have to either wrap the wound or use an Elizabethan collar to prevent it.

Yes. It is simply an antibacterial and can be used on nearly any mammal without concern or worry. Hot compresses will also help your dog heal faster and avoid infection.

You can use it if the wound is a rash or abrasion of some sort. You don't want to use it for deep cut/wounds.
