Is arthritis hereditary?

Several people in my family have arthritis.

It can be. A lot depends upon the type of arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis, for example, as a strong hereditary link. Other forms of arthritis are not as stongly tied to genetics, although you still may be more likely to get it than other people.

Yes, to some degree. As we get older we lose the cartlidge around our bones. If your mom and dad had arthritis the chances are you will to as some point in your life.

Arthritis is not hereditary in the strictest sense. However having a parent with the disease does increase one's risk of developing it in the future.
