Is an angled sofa the best way to deal with an odd-shaped room?

The room is really long and narrow with windows on both walls.

An angled sofa can fit best in any type of shaped room. Make sure your colors work well with the color of carpet/wood floors and walls.

Yes, accentuate the angle and use it to provide a feature or focus for the remaining furnishings. Set other chairs to one side if possible, with a small table or chest to the other. A medium size mat or rug should occupy the main visual foreground and if possible add a standard lamp for balance.

It can be. You don't say which walls the windows are on, so you have to move the furniture around perhaps to face the windows to see how it looks. If the room is not too narrow, you can use an angeled sofa, provided you leave enough of a traffic pattern to easily pass through.

A regular sofa could sit near the longest plain wall, and then placing two chairs with a small table in-between, sits near the other bare wall; will give you just as much seating room. The furniture now faces both windowed walls, giving you the appearance of a cozy room.
