Is a miniature Jack Russell recognized by the AKC?

Since the Jack Russell Terrier is not a recognized AKC breed, a miniature sized dog of this breed is not either. In the United States the only terrier of this type is the American Russell Terrier and it's not the same as the Jack Russell Terrier in the United States.

As of right now, they are not. But eventually if enough people breed them and they can trace a lineage it can be added to the roster.

The Jack Russel terrier is a recognized breed by the American Kennel Club, but the miniature Jack Russel terrier is not.

No, a miniature Jack Russel Terrier is not a "legitimate" breed. If you go onto their website, and search Miniature Jack Russel, it is not found.
