"Heat-treated" means to a method for continuously cooking and cooling flat food products.The heat accumulated during cooking is removed during cooling by conduction.

When you see meal-ready meat such as barbecued ribs packaged in plastic and not refrigerated, it has been heat-treated to stabilize it before packaging. Heat treatment makes the meat suitable for storing without refrigeration, hence it is considered ready to heat and eat.
