Yes! It shows you are so committed to good copy that you'll tell anyone about it.

No. I think it's more productive and effective, though it's also harder, to think about what the hirer is looking for and tailor your cover letter and resume to those anticipated needs rather than find and point out a typo they made.

I think this is a common tactic among editors and I don't think it works. Try to stand out in other ways, like with an engaging cover letter, or a resume that is really tailored to that position.

i wouldnt even bother, it seems like its more of a big deal then it is and your right, it could be taken wrong.

I say no. It might be received offensively, whether that is justified or not, and isn't worth the risk of not getting you the job. I don't think it's the sort of thing that *will* be the key to getting you the job so why risk it?

If you are absolutely sure that there is a typo, point it out to the company. They might have put it in there deliberately to see if you would catch it. If they did, you will be ahead of the game.
