This really depends on the state you reside in, and what kind of contract. Most states offer a time period to back out, but not all. Check before you sign.

A contract is a binding instrument. Unless the other party to the contract is willing to rescind the contract then if you breach the contract or do not follow your agreement, you may be liable for contract damages.

Read the contract for cancellation provisions. Depending on the language of the contract, you may legally have an out, depending in the law in your state.

You can meet with the person you made the contact with and hope that you both come to the agreement to terminate the contract. If not, then you will have to consult a lawyer. Always make sure you read contracts before signing anything.
