I have a 1982 American Prospector that is one ounce. How much is it worth?

This "coin" (technically a medallion, because it's from a private maker), sells for about $28, but is only worth melt value. 1 ounce of silver is currently $17. You might get from 50 to 90 percent of that on a sale.

On eBay they go for about $20. I saw some going for up to $25 on specialized coin sites. The going rate of silver is about $13-14 per ounce so the coins value is almost double the going rate of the silver. Maybe if you hold on to it the price will increase.

This is a solid silver coin that can be found in abundance, so there isn't a great deal of value. Most of the time it can be sold for about $20.
