Get a job that is lower than what you're looking for. Working again, even if it's not in the field that you used to work for or getting the salary you used to get can do wonders for your psyche and can help your confidence as you send out applications!

Self employment may be your only option. Businesses such as janitorial services, house sitting, child care, dog walking and mobile computer tech help are inexpensive to start and will give you a feeling of control.

Going to a counselor can help with the frustration of not finding a job. This will help with the hopeless feelings and put things in perspective. The couselor may have insights or job leads that will be outside of what you think.

Give yourself a week's break (or more) with no guilt. That may help you feel more ready to tackle the job. Also consider investigating more strategies after your break.
