It is not a terribly serious operation but like any operation that involves getting near the heart there are risks.

A stent is a serious operation, it means you need something to alleviate pressure or to allow for decrease in the blockage of flow of liquids. You probably need this done in the heart due to a blocked valve or artery, and this will allow the blood flow to be more fluid.

Pretty serious. It usually means there is a blockage in an artery, and the stent is being placed to keep the artery open and help prevent a heart attack.
