Answer by  ramesh53 (36)

One 42 gallon barrel of crude oil, when refined, produces 19. 9 gallons of finished gas as well as other petroleum products. This means it takes 2. 1 gallons of crude oil to produce one gallon of gas. This number will be varied according to the level of refinement desired. Therefore 42 gallons oil is needed for one gallon of gas.

A barrel of oil produces about 19. 5 gallons of gas (in addition to other products). A barrel is 42 gallons, so that works out to 42/19. 5 = about 2. 15 gallons of oil per gallon of gas.

One barrel of oil is actually separated to produce several different types of petroleum products. A barrel of oil is roughly 42 gallons and from that can produce roughly 19 gallons of gasoline, however, many other products are produced, too. Based on that, it can be said that it takes roughly one gallon of oil per gallon of gasoline.

Two gallons of oil make one gallon of gas. It's a roughly 50% conversion rate (a barrel of oil is 42 gallons and produces 20 gallons of gasoline).

It depends on the source of the crude oil, the particular refinery (& what they are trying to do), and the grade of the gasoline. In general though, about 2.1 to 2.2 gallons of crude oil yields 1 gallon of gasoline; along with jet fuel; diesel/kerosene; ... paving tar.
