Olympic winners do not get a monetary prize. Their reward is fame and a medal. The fame may lead to lucrative contracts with commercial sponsors, jobs, and other benefits.

Winners of Olympic gold medals do not win any money from the Olympics themselves. The medals themselves are the only winnings provided. Olympic winners can receive money from endorsements, sponsorships, and appearances outside the Olympic games and these are certainly boosted by winning the gold medal. Winners can also receive money from their own nation.

For winning the Olympics, the competitors recieve no money because it is supposed to be amateur athletic competition. However, the governing bodies for the particular sports pay certain athletes for competing or for winning medals and breaking records.
