Five hundred grams is slightly more than a pound; there are four hundred fifty four grams in one pound. One cup of flour weighs a hundred and ten grams so five hundred grams is about four and a half cups of flour. A good ratio for modelling clay is 2 parts flour to 2 parts water and 1 part salt.

It comes out to 4 to 4.5 cups of flour, since you're not cooking I think you can have a variable. Best thing is get a metric measuring cup.
