For the average couch, if you are just reupholstering the cushions, each cushion is on average 24-36" square, with a depth of 6-8". If you couch has 3 cushions then you need approx 3 1/2 yards to fully cover each cushion or 11 yards total, but it also depends on the width of the fabric purchased.

Take one of the cusions with you to the store. You will need to be able to wrap the pillow and allow for hemming.

This depends on the size of the cushions. Measure the cushion across, then add the number of inches it is in width adding. Double that number. That is the amount needed for one cushion. Buy enough for all the cushions you need to make. It usually sells in yards.

The amount of fabric you need depends on the couch. Measure around the cushions, and then get at least that much in yards plus 1/2 as much again.
