The average 53' semi-trailer weighs between 10,000 to 25,000 pounds. There are many factors that go into the weight of a trailer. Some of which are: Flatbed or box, number of axles, material used to make the trailer(aluminum or steel), optional equipment(extra lights, roll doors or swing doors...etc), refer units.

An empty semi - trailer weighs roughly 16000 - 20000 lbs. That is with the trailer and without cargo on single axles. If it has dual axles it weighs 34,000 and 12,000 on the steer axle.

A 53 foot long non-refrigerated box or van trailer can weigh between 10,000 to 15,000 pounds. A flatbed trailer may weigh about 16,500 pounds (7500 kilograms). Tanks, refrigerator units, extra axles so you can haul heavier loads, all these things will add weight to the trailer. There are a lot of variations.
