A cyclist burns about 5.5 calories per hour per pound of body weight riding between 16 and 20 mph. Riding between 12 and 14 mph burns about 3.6 calories per mile per pound. A 130-pound person burns about 715 calories riding 17 miles in an hour.

It really depends on the kind of cycling - normal roads, leisure, mountain terrains, but on an average you can burn about 200 - 250 calories per hour of cycling.

If you're cruising on leveled ground, you can expect to burn a few hundred calories; pending on how fast you're riding. If you're peddling up hill, this is the best way to burn as much off as possible. It requires a lot of cardiovascular movement and you'll sweat those calories right off.
