If you don't smell gas and haven't gotten contaminated gas in the tank, it will easily last the life of the vehicle, over 20 years or more. Replace the fuel filter as recommended, and fill up when the tank drops to 1/4 full and you should be fine.

Any and all gas tanks rust fom the outside in. So simply put if you can visually see rusty holes or leaks in them from the outside than the tanks are bad. If there arent any then the tank is still good to go. Check especially close for leaks where the gas tank straps hold the tank down.
