How far apart should I plant geraniums?

I received some geranium pinchings and have replanted them in the ground, but now I'm realizing that I might have planted them too close together. What is the recommended spacing for planting geraniums?

Around one foot apart would be the ideal spacing for geraniums planted in the ground however they can be planted closer together without any problems. The more space you leave around the geraniums the bigger in diameter they will grow.

I usually plant mine about a foot apart and they do very well you have to give them enough room to grow up and bush out.
