Pneumonia is generally not a disease but a condition or symptom of another problem. It is caused by bacteria, a virus or a fungal infection.

Pneumonia is lung infection caused by bacteria named pneumococci or virus. In this condition a whole lung or part of lung is consolidated. It has 4 stages - inflammation, red hepatization, grey hepatization and resolution. It starts with high fever and difficulty in breathing. Patient must be admitted in hospital and if breathing trouble is high, antibiotics and ventilator are indicated.

I was told by my doctor a long time ago that going from hot air to cold air repeatedly will increase your chances of getting pneumonia.
