Freecycle is organized into local groups. To get involved, sign up with your local Freecycle group(which may be in Yahoo Groups or on the Freecycle Network's own website). Once you're in the group you can read messages offering free items, or post your own. To find the Freecycle website, do a web search on "Freecycle"

Go to to find and join a group near you. Most groups send out regular emails with people offering and requesting items. The website will explain the rules.

There is an established Yahoo! Group for freecycle programs in each major city. Join the mailing list and participate by either offering used items up or taking used items that you need instead of buying new ones. This can reduce overall waste by sharing items in the community that may not actually be broken, but unwanted by previous owners.
