I recommend starting the puppy on "Science Diet" soft puppy food. It's rich with nutrients the puppy needs to grow up strong. The dog needs a soft place to sleep at night and should be able to burrow down like he or she would with other pups for comfort.

It is important that you plan on applying trainig techniques very early. The older the dog gets, the more difficult it will be to train them in the future. Start early, be consistent, be patient, and then enjoy a well-behaved dog with your family.

Malteses are great family dogs. They are full of energy and love playing. Because of their hair, Maltese should be groomed daily. This just involves a daily brushing so that mats do not form in their coat.

There is no right or wrong way to take care of a maltese. They are very affectionate dogs and children are usually very affectionate so everything should work out fine.

You should take care of it like any other day. Even though it is a small dog, it is still a dog. You don't need to pamper it like a human, unless you want to of course. Just make sure that if the dog is very pampered, that it is not aggressive.
