The best thing I've found is to pour peroxide on the affected area, then rinse with water. It literally dissolves the blood.

Fresh bloodstains are easily removable by pouring a liberal amount of hydrogen peroxide directly onto the blood stain. Rubbing is not necessary. The stain will start to disappear. If any is left, pour on more peroxide. It works great!

The best way that I have found to remove fresh bloodstains from clothes is by rinsing the clothing item in cold water from the faucet.
