You prune roses by clipping off, with sharp garden shears, various parts of the rose plant whether dead or nonbudding to allow the nutrients from the soil and the water to get to the blooms.

To prune roses, you need sharp pruners. Always cut above the second nodule from the bottom of the lenght you want it cut.
