You learn to draw people by observation of actual people around you, in magazines or on television. Studying proportion and features are also helpful in learning to draw people. You could also practice by tracing and learning from drawings of people completed by other artists.

The first step is to keep trying and draw as many people as you can. Practice really does make perfect in this case. You can start by tracing, also.

Figure drawing is largely based on proportion. There are books and online lessons about the various proportions of specific body parts relate to one another. Otherwise, study and practice are key. While some are natural talent, others must work harder to develop theirs. Art teachers claim that everyone can learn to draw well over time.

In order to draw people, you should notice details on them first. I suggest the saying, "practice makes perfect." Therefore if you don't get it right the first time, just try again. I would start off by tracing and sketching and then you will be able to focus on human details.

You can learn to draw people by taking an art class or you could go to a Library and get a book. You could also just try drawing people and keep practicing.

It is easier if you remember the human body is still made out of basic shapes, circles, triangles, and rectangles. You can make a mini-model, then refine it.
