If adding extra insulation to your attic baffles are often installed. Either 16" or 24" baffles can be located where the rafters meet the floor of the attic. And can be easily installed using staple gun, spacing about four inches on either side.

To install attic baffles climb a ladder in between each attic rafter a or beam and staple them in place up from the interior roof line. Place the staples about every 3"to 4" along the baffle. Provide space of at least 1" between the roof deck and baffle. Baffles should be installed where the lower roof vents are in place.

Before handling any job make sure you follow basic safety rules while working on the roof. Make sure you set your saw to an 1/8th inch greater than the soffit. Lay out the vent so it is between rafters and cut your hole and screw down the vent.

You have to climb up there and the type of baffles you install will be based on what type is already there. You will need to check with the hardware store to be safe. Make sure you are wearing protective gear because you may come into contact with dangerous things.

Whether your attic has drywall or not you simply staple the baffles on top of the wall plate. You must find the end of the eaves with an existing attack.
