How do you go about sexing guinea pigs?

That means figuring out the sex. I got two and I need to know if I can keep them together or not.

Look online for sexing photos. Male genitalia looks more like an "i" and female like a "y". The best way is to go to an exotics vet.

Look at their privates. Females look more like a "y" and males look more like an "i" (with large hanging testicles as they age). You can also feel a shaft slightly above the testes on a male. Search the internet for sexing pics as a reference.

Look online for guinea pig sexing photos as a reference. You should also be able to feel the shaft above a boy's genitalia, which looks more like an 'i' with a little dot while female parts look more like a 'y'. Best bet is verification by an EXOTICS vet.

Try taking them to an exotics vet for a professional opinion, or look online for 'guinea pig sexing pics' as a comparator. As a quick guide, girl parts look like a Y and boy parts look more like an I with a protruding penis.

Search the internet for sexing pics or take them to a vet. Female genitals look more 'y' shaped, whereas boys have more of an 'I'. If you press lightly above the genitals and a penis comes out or you can feel a ridge-like shaft above them, it's a boy.

Look online for guinea pig sexing pics as a reference. Boys's bits also look more like a letter 'i' while girl bits look like a letter 'y'. You might be able to feel the boy's shaft by pressing lightly above the genitals. Both boys and girls have two nipples.
