To rid a decaying piece of wood of fungus first remove as much dead wood as possible. Next using some kind of heat source, dry the wood thoroughly. The moisture is the almost always the direct cause of growing fungus. When dried apply sealant/ varnish to prevent new decay from occurring.

If what you refer to is the fungus ( mushrooms) that grow where wood decays, such as the roots after a tree has been cut down, use copper sulfate. It is sold under the name Bordeaux but there are probably others. You may have to sprinkle this on once or twice depending on whether it is humid or very dry conditions.

You either have to eliminate the source of moisture upon which the fungus is thriving, or give an application of a product called boracare which will also kill the fungus.

Wood decay fungus's are highly susceptible to borates. Borate solutions are available for purchase online as well as at nurserys. Follow the directions on the bottle for proper intructions. Most have you make up a solution and pour it on the infected area as well as the surrounding area.

Simply put some kerosene oil on that fungused area,or,give some sunlight to that area if possible. Because the smell of kerosene is too bad for them and the fungus are only in the moistured area. Avoid to get it wet by children and make it clean in every week.

The best way to get rid of wood decay fungus is to treat it with the appropriate fungicide. However, it is difficult to treat and you should try to prevent this in the first place. The best way to prevent wood decay fungus is to plant in an area that is well drained.
