All you need to do is plug in your dvr to your television using either your hdmi cable, or your rca jacks

The easiest and best way to do that is simply with an optical audio cord. They are usually clear and have a d-shaped connector on each end.

DVRs have RCA connections to capture sound and video. Make sure that your TV or video receiver has RCA outputs. Yellow - Video Red - Audio for the Right Channel White - Audio for the Left Channel. Use an RCA connection cable long enough to reach from the DVR to the TV.

Most systems come with RCA cables, normally they're yellow, red, and white. You connect the red and white from the cable box (OUTPUT) to the surround sound (INPUT). The regular cable box should be connected to the television with the cable that the provider gave you, or with the yellow RCA cable.

Look on the back of your cable box and connect your HDMI cable to it and then to the back of your televison.
