Vacuum it. Anything else would mess up the felt itself. A brush would go againist the grain, water would trap itself in the felt. A vacuum will get the dirt off, if there is a stain I would use a steam cleaner. Make sure you clean the balls because they are the source of the dirt.

You want to brush the felt in short firm strokes, starting at the center and going toward a corner pocket. This should be done every evening after play is done. Also, vacuuming it with the smallest brush attachment once a week will help maintain smooth felt as well.

When I clean mine I take a damp washcloth and wipe everything into the center then I vaccuum it off. The washcloth won't rough or ruin the felt.

You can buy a special cleaner for this job. Also there are special pool table cleaning brushes you can use. Follow the manufacturer's suggestions for using the cleaner or the brush.

Use your vaccuum cleaner's furniture attachment tool. Brush the pool table with it in one direction. It is also good practice to cover the table when not in use.

Just clean it using vinegar. Vinegar will work on just about anything. It will remove the dirt and it will also remove the smell that is coming from your table. To get rid of felt, use vinegar and baking soda.
