To become a history teacher a 4 year course study at a college or university must be done. An individual would need to study both history and education. After completing studies at a college or university a resume with references and job skills must be presented to any school that an individual may be interested in working in.

Teacher certification depends on the state and you should check with the State Board of Education. Most states require that you have at least a BA in the field in which you want to become certified. Some states require a degree in education. Most states also require a certification exam.

To become a history teacher, you will need to enroll in an approved curiculm at a college or university in your state. Most programs require a course of study that includes; educational practices,theory, special ed and educational psychology. Program length is four to five years, with one semester student teaching.
