Make sure you are using the correct brand and model of spark plug. Get some fuel injector cleaner and run it through with the next tank of gas. Make sure the fuel pump is working properly. If this doesn't fix it, you may need to have the injectors professionally cleaned.

Sputtering on acceleration usually means the cylinders arnt firing properly. This can be fixed with a simple tune up of the ignition and timing. It would also be a good idea to replace the fuel filter and clean the throttle body sensor.

Usually an accelerating sputter has to do with the engine reciving to much fuel. When a motor recieves to much fuel, when the valve opens up and it combusts the fuel it will create a sputter in the motor. You may have a leaking fuel injector O-ring that needs to be replaced.

Depending on millage you may want to start with a tune up. If the plugs or wire are old it may not be producing enough spark to completely ignite the air fuel mixture under load.

Well you should test all the likely trouble spots. Look on the internet to see if others have had the issue and what they did to fix it.

If you are having these types of problems with your engine then you will probably have to end up getting a new one. If you dont, the engine could stop working one day.
