How do I troubleshoot a problem with my VCR where the tape will not eject?

It is a common problem in VCR there are many reason where VCR tape get jammed or not ejecting the main reason is the motor when get weeker of the ejecting mechanism. The another reason is the belt of the ejecting mechanism when it get loosen. Just replace the belt to troubleshoot it.

There could be different root causes for not ejecting tape. One reason could be a defect in electronics so that the VCR doesn't understand command "EJECT" (defect Button, ICs). However it could a defect in mechanics as well so that the tape can not be ejected.

First you would want to try unplugging the power chord and see if it will eject once the power has been plugged back in.

First step is to unplug the VCR. Make sure that it is unplugged for at least thirty seconds. Once this time has passed plug the VCR back in and then hit the eject button.

Most likely what is going on here is that your VCR has wrapped the tape around the heads inside of it. This is why it will not eject.
