Make sure it has fresh water daily. Watch his food bowl to make sure he has seeds and not just empty seeds on top. Clean the bottom tray when needed. Socialize with it. Birds are sociable animals.

Feed your bird a good diet of veggies and good quality pellets, with not much seed. No chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, or avocado. Fresh water at all times, and a clean cage. Size-appropriate toys are important. Find groups on the internet about parakeets to talk with.

A caged parakeet requires specialist bird food which will consist of various types of seed and dried fruit. Most pet shops supply this type of food. The bird should have access to fresh water on a daily basis and should be given calcium supplements available from good pet shops. The cage should be cleaned daily.

Make sure the cage is located in a well-lit, draft-free area. Do not set the cage in direct or indirect sunlight. Provide food, fresh water and a clean cage.

Change food and water daily. You can add some lettuce or a treat for the bird too. Make sure there are some hanging toys and cuttlebone in the cage.

A parakeet needs attention. It can't live alone so it needs a partner.Parakeets like colorful things which you can put in the feeding them, give just enough birdseeds. They don't eat big seeds like sunflower, so just give the small seeds. You can give the birdseeds a little bit wet.Waters should have vitamins too.
