First, locate the pop-off air valve on your tank. This will typically be at the bottom. Then, using a wrench, unscrew the old valve from the heater. Some pop-off valves can just be popped out as well. Replace with a new one. After this is completed, make sure to purge the trapped air before operation.

let heater cool down turn off fuel or power source and drain heater but let the cold water keep flowing this will help in the cooling down process. after heater has cooled shut off cold water supply remove pop off valve and replace with correct heat range .
