For the proper fix You need to get the hayes repair guide for your vehicle. It is around 20 dollars and you can get it online or from your local parts store.

The easy answer is take it to the shop. But, you can try to fix it yourself and save a lot of money. Get some type of grease a lot of time the cables just hasn't been lubricated in so long that it doesn't want to move. get under the hood and lubricate it there too.

Is this a hood release latch or the automatic trunk cable? Either way, follow the line to see where the disconnect happens. You may be able to rewire the existing cable rather than replacing. Unthread and try again, be cautious about how much weight the cable is holding and test several times after installation or rethreading.

Find which ever end of the cable you can find. Tape or tie a string to the end, and then pull the cable out from the other end so the string runs through where the cable used to be. Tie new cable to string, then pull string out, pulling new cable in.

It would probably be easier just to replace the cable instead of trying to fix it. Since it is a cable inside a tube it would be hard to patch the cable together and still let it move. Plus the repair may fail and you would be right back where you started.

Pull the lever and push it down. Hold the lever up at the position its mounted, there is a plastic holding, push it out, reconnect cable and remount the lever.

the trunk lever in the car works but the trunk doesn't open. only if someone was outside and lifted the trunk while the latch was being held will it open other than by key. -
