Make a retangular box, with a removeable front. The front should have a hole for about the size of the bird, and just above the half way mark. Put a perch just below the hole. The roof can be angled and one piece.

You will need to find a good construction plan in order to have a guide from which to work. Some good wood will need to be selected so it will be easy with which to work. It should also be something that will last. A decision will need to be made as to whether to use nails or glue.

The best way is just to create a wooden box that has a removable bottom for cleaning. The hole in the front should include a perching rod.

A birdhouse is simply a box with an entry cut into one side. 3/4-1 cubic foot is plenty for a bluebird. Make it as natural to the surroundings as possibly.

birdhouses can be as elaborate or simple as you prefer. I suggest using solid wood and keeping the design simple. Stay away from composite and plywood materials as they don't weather well

Start with natural unpainted wood. Make sure it is still rough so the bird can escape the house. Blue birds don't need a perch, so don't include one. Make it a square with a big enough hole, a rounded floor, and a slanted roof.

Cut your wood. Use your cut 1x6's for construction, then take them and place them in the right placement and screw the pieces together.
