Sketch some ideas, develop a basic story board, character development should be considered as well as where the story starts where it goes and what the underlying theme is. Ensure your style is suitable for your genre and make sure most of all that you love it!

Before you decide to make a career change write your strip and have some friends and families that will give you an honest opinion critique it for you.

There are plenty of books on the subject, but the best way to go about it is to create your characters and then go to the Sunday paper and study how the comic strips that have made it to the newspaper are constructed. Create yours, then look for a distribution deal.

I think you could too, but are you a better writer or a drawer? If you are better drawer, get a friend to bounce some ideas off for what the subject of your comic strip will be. If you are better writer, think about ideas and ask a more artistically inclined friend to show you what they are thinking of for the art. Most importantly, make a comic strip that you would want to read!

There are several websites that enable you to combine text and images into comic strips. Try one of those out. Post your comics on the web and see what people think. That way, you can tell whether you have what it takes.

Draw up some strips and start a portfolio. Perhaps start a blog online that shows some of your recent strips, to build a fanbase. Then submit to a small publication.
