I've been there. The best way I can think of is to immerse yourself in other things. Get together with friends, teach yourself something new (I like languages, as they require a lot of concentration and time), play a game/sport, etc. Avoid looking for rebound relationships. Avoid romance for a little while. It wouldn't be fair to the other person.

You might just have too much time on your hands to obsess. The best approach is to busy yourself with positive activites like, work, recreation, and hobbies.

You need to surround yourself with people who care about you. Pick up a hobby. You need to find other things to live for than besides this relationship. Try to avoid things that remind you of that person- events, items, etc. Get rid of these things so you won't have a constant reminder.

Try to stay busy. Letting go of a relationship is incredibly hard but try to occupy yourself with a new hobby or friends to take your mind off of it.

You had better meet more people and make more friends, the most important thing is to make you very busy, then you will not have time to think about it. If possible, you may go sight seeing for several months. It is very effective.
