If your battery light is not turning on, check your bulb first. If replacing the bulb does not work. A fuse or a ground wire that is blown, bare, damage, or worn and must be replaced or spliced. But before you do any eletrical work on a vechicle you must disconnect the negitive cable from the car battery.

It's indicating a bad alternator if not the battery. Have those items checked or replaced, if the light is still on you have to have the sensor replaced to get the light to go out. My guess is you have a bad alternator which will eventually leave you stranded somewhere.

Usually a battery light that is on in a vehicle is caused by a bad alternator. This can be fixed by replacing your alternator with a new one. Replacing the battery will not fix your problem.

If the battery light on the Mitsubishi Montero Sport is turning on, your battery is most likely ready to die. If you have already changed the battery, take it to a mechanic to get the sensors checked or just get the battery light turned off.

Make sure the battery is in good condition and holds a charge. Next, check to make sure the belt is still on the alternator and is tight. If these things check out, you will probably need to replace the alternator or voltage regulator.

You need to locate the battery under the hood, pull it out and bring it to get tested at your local automotive store. Most likely your battery has gone bad.
