First troubleshoot to make sure that the ignition switch is on, some models require that the vehicle ignition is switched on prior to the vehicle shifting from park to any other gear, if this does not work then your linkage going from the shifter to the transmission is broke, if this is not the case your transmission will need overhaul.

If you are parked on a steep hill in the park position, this could be cause of it where there really is no problem. You would need to take pressure off the vehicles wheel and try getting it out that way. If not the cause have vehicle towed to garage.

If your brake lights are off take off the top of your shift lever and make sure the clip is still there. If your break lights are on, you can cross the green/purple and green/orange wires in your fuse box. Best to have a mechanic do this

First check your brake and taillights to see if they are operational. If not then chances are the problem is a bad brake switch. The brake switch is located behind the brake pedal. Remove the switch, click a few times to see if it is working properly, if not replace the switch with a new one.

You may have either a problem with a key switch or a safety swith from the brake pedal. These can both disallow the shuttle (shifter) to move out of park.
