There are a lot of casting agencies out there which exploit young and ambitious people. Make sure to do a lot of research to find a reputable place which not only understands talent but understands fair and balanced casting. Once this is discovered, keep in check with your agency with phone calls/emails every week to ensure employment opportunities.

You can contact one through the phone book with their number or online through a website with an e-mail address or a mail server on a website. Usually they will want some head shots and profile shots. A casting agent will then ask you for a reading based on your appearance.

Search various casting websites. There are quite a bit online and you can usually find a decent one. You can also check the phone book for talent agents who are just casting agents with different names. Don't actually sign up for the casting websites since most are scams trying to take you money.

Get in touch with your local branch of the Screen Actors Guild. They will provide you with the names of the franchised agents near you.
