The fuel pump lies within the fuel tank. therefore in order to check the fuel pump you need to drain the fuel tank and lower the tank. disconnect any and all wires and hoses. once the tank is off the vehicle youll see the pump which needs to be turned counter clockwise

Well you can switch the key on to see whether or not it runs. Check the pressure by splicing a gauge into the fuel line. A volume test can e done be recording the amount of fuel pump out of the line over a period of time.

If your car has a fuel rail, you'll need a fuel pressure gauge. It will look like the valve stem to a tire, except it will be under the hood, near the injectors. Test it. If the pressure is less that 35 psi, your pump is bad.

Turn the key to the on position, but do not start the car. you should hear a buzzing or whirring sound from the back of the car. This is the fuel pump priming. If you hear no sound, check the connection to the fuel pump for voltage. If you have a schrader valve, check fuel pressure during cranking.
