The best thing is to place an fence end post as close as possible to the outside wall/foundation and attach the fense to it rather than the house. If unable to put a post in the ground then attach a treated 2x6 to the wall of the house and then attach the post with clamps to the 2x6.

A corner post for the chain link fence needs to be placed at the corner of the house. The post needs to be placed into a hole dug 18 inches deep (at the least) and filled in with concrete, then left to harden for 24 hours. This provides a good starting point to attacha strong fence to.

You should set a pole in the ground right next to the house and the chain link fence will hook to the pole. If you are concerned about the small gap, get some type of wire or small fencing and nail one side to the house and other to pole.
