You can apply faux mahogany finish to your furnature in the same way that you would coat your furnature with any other finish type - I would recommend a good brush.

You can apply a mahoghany veneer with a wood glue, then stain. If the original wood is close grained, a maghony colored stain should be enough. Rub it on, rub it off. There are kits with the tools necessary to paint a faux wood appearance on laminate cabinets. These are made for the non-professional and deliver nice results.

Faux mahogany is a murky, often- polished look that can be created with a basix dark brown stain or paint, and lots and lots of brown glazes over it. The idea is to make it look as if the wood has been darkening for a long time.

Depending on your furniture, you will need to start with the wood being stripped. There are kits you can buy that will give you the finish you would like; however, the first step is to prep the furniture before applying any finish.
