How did underground rap get started?

Who began rap music? What was life like for rappers?

Underground rap got started in the South Bronx. Legends like Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash are largely credited with being at the forefront of this growing industry. Rappers' life, in the past, was not good in terms of national acclaim. They had to fight an uphill battle for respect.

Rap music started from jazz culture, particularly from skat musicians. Skatting, or the use of random syllables as a form of musical improvisation, lead to the desire to do similar with poems. Rapper's Delight is a great example of using similar skat rhythms with a story. Life was very different, as rap was not a mainstage art form.

Underground rap got its' start during the 1990s, when some hip-hop artists felt that mainstream rap was becoming too commercialized and losing its' messages of black self-pride and political awareness. Main underground artists included Main Source, KRS-1, DeLaSoul, Public Enemy, Gang Starr, and oithers. Nowadays, underground rap can be mainly found on Internet radio or YouTube, as well as

i think the original underground rappers first came through when they wanted a new way of expressing themselves without violence.it was easier to do that than by shooting.
