Bleaching is never a good idea because it damages hair. But, the best way to get hair white is to start with as light and even blonde color as possible. If it's not an even color to start, when it's bleached out you'll have a mess.

a home remedy is to use real bleach or peroxide. if i were you, id go to a professional and have it stripped. i dont think it would cost a whole lot if you dont get additional color.
