Some popular IUDs contain the hormone progestin which is in some birth control pills. An overdose of progestin may have many unwanted side effects or symptoms. Pills must never be combined with other forms of hormonal contraceptives. In the case of non-medicated IUDs and the Pill, you are increasing your overall risk of disease as both methods have serious risks.

It won't be a problem if you take the pill while doing the IUD. They are the same treatments which do not conflict with one another. If anything they're the same thing just administered differently. IUD works with your natural hormones while the pill creates hormones within you. I would prefer the IUD over the pill however.

If you have an IUD that releases hormones, then you will be double dosing by taking birth control pills. At the very least, too much progesterone and/or estrogen can lead to discomfort.

I am of he opinion, that if you were to use two(2) birth control devices simultaneously, if you were to have an adverse reaction it be alot more difficult to know which one caused it. The other problem I find is that you would be getting a double dose of hormones.Too much of anything is sure to cause some problem.
