Hydrocortisone has been known to lighten skin and cause rashes in some. However, its overall effect is worth it. Just use the cream sparingly and try using it with a longer period in between uses so that there is not a lot of absorption at one time.

You can use hydrocortisone cream on black skin just as you would on any other color skin. It will work on any skin color.

You shouldn't really use it , limit use of hydrocortisone on black skin considering its side effect may be loss of pigment in skin color. Please be advise and aware of this fact, use with discretion.

You must use caution when applying hydrocortisone on African American skin. It can be harmful specifically to infants and children. Hydrocortisone's known side effects include discoloration of the skin, as well as producing an acne-like rash. If you are African American, please use this cream sparingly and under a doctor's supervision.

You should apply a thin layer of the cream on the affected area. After you have done this apply a sunscreen and try and stay out of the sun. A lot of the creams have sunscreen in them already, which is a plus.
